Getting started

Consultation

An initial consultation is provided to gather information about yourself or your child. 

Consultation includes:

  • 10-15 minute, free consultation or Zoom call

  • Answer questions about typical development

  • Determine appropriate course of action: screening, evaluation, therapy, etc.

Evaluation

An evaluation helps determine the plan of care

Evaluation: 

  • Conducted when a client has not yet been diagnosed or treated.

  • Evaluations include a variety of measures, consisting of standardized testing, parent or client interviews, a complete Orofacial Myofunctional evaluation, feeding observation, and informal social language observation.  

  • The evaluation process will begin with the completion of initial paperwork completed prior to evaluation appointment.

  • Results of the evaluation include recommendations for therapy length of session, frequency of services , and approximate duration.

Therapy

NWA Speech Therapy provides one-on-one services to children and adults.

  • We provide pre- and post-frenectomy (tongue tie release) care in coordination with your surgical provider.

  • Therapy for the speech sound disorders, remediation of a tongue thrust, reducing thumb sucking/pacifier habits, Oromyofunctional skills, and feeding/swallowing issues.  

  • Length of session times typically range from 30, 45, and 60 minutes, depending on the age and needs of the child/adult.  

  • A short overview of skills addressed and home practice suggestions to allow for optimal carryover of skills learned will be provided at the end of sessions.  

Types of Therapy

Service delivery models include:

  • In-person, one-on-one session

  • Teletherapy (Zoom) sessions.
